Gorby still in front in Region 4

The Springfield News-Sun's Marshall Gorby widened his lead over Matt Detrich in the NPPA Region 4 Monthly Clip Contest by sweeping the spot news category in December. Detrich who had two wins wins himself in December trails Gorby by 162 points.

The contest is not over yet as the October judges have not turned in results of their work yet. And I thought online judging was supposed to speed things up.

Two NPPA Televison POYs added to ONPA seminar faculty

The final speakers for this year's ONPA education seminar are now in place with the addition of NPPA Television Photographer of the Year, Darren Durlach of WBFF-TV, Baltimore and Dave Delozier from KUSA-TV, Denver, the NPPA 2009 Solo Video Journalist of the Year.

This brings the two best video journalists in the country to you. No need to travel to Norman, Oklahoma or other national conference. We are very fortunate to have both of them join an already impressive lineup of speakers which include Kathy Kieliszewski of the Detroit Free Press, Denny Simmons from the Evansville Courier & Press and Rob Sumner founding member and photographer at Red Box Pictures.

Those who need hotel reservations must contact the Columbus Airport Marriott by Friday, March 26 to receive the ONPA $109 room rate.

You can download materials to register for the seminar or go to the ONPA Website to register and pay online.

Registration now open for 2010 ONPA convention in Columbus

Registration for the 2010 ONPA convention is now underway for the event being held at the Columbus Airport Marriott, April 16-17. As soon as travel arrangements are set the schedule of events will be posted.

Currently we have speaking commitments from Kathy Kieliszewski of the Detroit Free Press, Denny Simmons from the Evansville Courier & Press and Rob Sumner founding member and photographer at Red Box Pictures, a Seattle-based commercial and editorial photography studio. An additional television speaker will be added to the program.

You can register for the conference online or by mail. Registration fees remain at last years reduced rates. ONPA members are $20, non-members are $40, out-of-state non-members are $25 and all students are $10. Add $10 to all fees if you register at the door.

If you are planning on staying at the Columbus Airport Marriott either Friday or Saturday night the cutoff date to receive the ONPA $109 room rate is March 26th so don't delay.
